Sleep shock bracelet

Introduction

Nowadays, with the increasing rate of traffic accident caused by fatigue, reducing the rate of fatigue is an essential problem to solve. After comparing different options, Sleep Shock Bracelet is chosen as the best solution for the problem. It is a high-tech bracelet which can reduce the rate of fatigue by giving people a shock just before they fall asleep. In the business section, the Sleep Shock Bracelet Company sought and found the most relevant and suitable vision, strategy, value chain activity, systems, processes, functionalities, technologies etc. for future development.

3.1 Vision

To make driving becoming more safety, save human lives and save families.

 

3.2 Industry Analysis: Road Accident Prevention Device Industry

Industry: Road Accident Prevention Device Industry. This industry provides products like tamper proof speed controller, seat belt reminder, backup camera, intelligent speed assistance system, and driving monitor etc., which can reduce the risk of car accidents and make driving safer.

The buyer power is low because the products in this industry are of strategically importance for the customers. Safety is the most important factor that consumers should consider when purchasing a vehicle (Weisbaum, 2006). Car manufacturers and drivers must purchase some products in this industry to reduce the risk of car accidents.

 

 

Supplier power:

The supplier power is low. Most products in this industry are high-tech products which mean the companies own their core technology and only need to buy products like display devices, diodes, transistor, integrated circuit chip, optoelectronic device, vacuum tube etc. which can be supplied by many companies like Jameco Electronics (Jemoco, 2014), Mouser (Mouser, 2014), DigiKey Electronics (DigiKey, 2014) and so on.

 

Threat of new entrants:

 

Low

 

It usually requires high-tech or patent to produce these devices, so it is difficult for new competitors to enter this industry. It requires high initial investments and many products in this industry have protected intellectual property like patents, licenses etc. Therefore, the entry barrier is high.

 

Threat of substitutes:

The devices in this industry have specific function

 

--- reducing car accidents. Through the research, traffic signals, speed bump, government policy such as speed limit restrict, and so on can also reduce car accident, but they are used by the government on road to reduce traffic accidents (Noam,2010). Therefore, the threat of substitutes is low.

 

Rivalry  among  existing competitors:

The  competition  is  complacent;  therefore,  the rivalry  among  existing  competitors  is  relatively low. It rarely to see price – competitions or selling campaigns in this industry.

 

Overall attractiveness of the industry:  Generally speaking, the overall attractiveness is relatively high. Since this industry is profitable and sustainable, it has high pretention.

 

3.3 Customers and their needs

The target groups of consumers are drivers and especially long distance drivers and nighttime drivers.

Fatigue is a serious problem which threatens drivers’ lives not only around the world but also in New Zealand. According to the report provided by Ministry of Transport (2013), fatigue was identified as a contributing factor in 36 fatal crashes, 106 serious injury crashes and 410 minor injury crashes in 2012 (Ministry of Transport, 2013). There are over 50% long distance drivers have fallen asleep at the wheel and peak levels at night can be 10 times daytime levels (Townsend& Galbraith, n.d.).

Individuals care about their safety and have the desire to reduce the risk of car accidents caused by fatigue. Since it is easy to become fatigue for drivers and it may cause serious consequences, drivers need something convenient to help them avoid falling asleep while driving.

3.4 The Product and Service

The Sleep Shock Bracelet is designed to solve the problem of fatigue while driving. Before using the bracelet while driving, users need to record the heart rate using the bracelet just before they fall asleep because individual has different heart rate on the same activity. The bracelet records this value and each time the user’s heart rate goes to that value, it gives a stock via small metal terminals.

Sleep Shock Bracelet can reduce the serious consequences caused by fatigue by giving a shock just before driver fall asleep, which is wearable, convenient and effective. Therefore, it is a practical solution for the fatigue while driving.

3.5 Suppliers and Partners

Suppliers include the companies providing us with the technology of heart rate measurement. There are products like heart rate monitor and heart rate phone which are able to help measure heart rate. Heart rate monitor might be a better choice for the first time test because it is more useful while recording heart rate change over short time periods, where the heart rate may be changing. Potential heart rate monitor suppliers are Polar (Polar, 2014), Garmin (Garmin, 2014), TomTom (TomTom, 2014), Suunto (Suunto, 2014) and Cardiosport (Cardiosport, 2014).

Partners can be companies that can provide smartphone heart rate. They two work together; making the bracelet is connected to the phone app, which improves the effectiveness of the product and share profits. The potential partners are Wahoo Fitness (Wahoo, 2014), and Viiiiva 4iiii (4iiii, 2014).

3.6 Strategy: Differentiation

It is Broad Market competitive scope. Since the Sleep Shock Bracelet is useful for all of the drivers who are afraid of fatigue, large amount of people are in this group and the customers are large.

It is High Cost in the cost strategy. The product is unique throughout the industry. It offers unique attributes that are valued by customers and the value added by the uniqueness of the product may allow the firm to charge a premium price for it.

The overall strategy is therefore Differentiation.

3.7 Value Chain Activity: Service after sale

The most important value chain activity for this business is Service after sale.

Sleep Shock Bracelet is a special bracelet which can give the users a shock just before they fall asleep. If the Sleep Shock Bracelet fails down, traffic accidents may happen and it will cause injure even death. Our vision is to make driving becoming more safety, save human lives and save families. Therefore, we have to have good service after sale like 24 hours call centre, regular call-back, and timely update etc. to ensure the Sleep Shock Bracelet always works well. Also, we have high cost strategy and we need to guarantee the service after sale because it is part of the value of the product.

3.8 Business Processes

3.8.1 Complaint Management Process - This process works on tracking gathering valid complaints, classifying them according to specific causes and then inform relative departments to work out solution After making sure the customers are satisfied, we create memos for these complaints. This process can improve customers’ satisfaction which fits the VCA (Service after Sale). This process keeps the customers satisfy with products, driver driving without caring too much of fatigue. Thereby, the vision is also enhanced by solve complaints and ensure the products working well.

3.8.2 Warranty Claim Process - This process helps us checking cause, repair the product and therefore, guarantee the operational states of sleep shock bracelet. In addition, we will keep a record in order to improve and check the following products. From Differentiation Strategy (Strategy) and Service after Sale (the most important VCA), we can see that service quality and customers’ satisfaction are of great importance to Sleep Shock Bracelet Company.

3.10 Systems

3.10.1 Complaint Management Systems - This system supports the ‘Determine whether it is a valid complaint’ function by providing warranty numbers and customer numbers, and work with customer information system to check whether complaints are As for the ‘Determine the nature of complaints’ function, this system provides different data and features. In this way, we keep customer get solutions as soon as possible, keep they satisfied and the products working well. Therefore, make our vision an achievable one.

 

3.10.2 Warranty Management System  - to keep customers satisfied (VCA—Service After Sale), the company guarantees the quality and settle the problems as soon as p If products break down, we will check status of returned parts, know the problems, determine the responsible departments and make the claim, which are all supported by this system. After that, we create a memo list in case it happens again.

 

3.10.3 Customer Information Management System This system supports all the functions above by providing customers’ information like customer numbers, warranty numbers, contact phone numbers, purchase date and so on. Since the most important VCA is service after sale, we have to keep contact with our customers and ensure that the product works well.

Conclusion

Through our company, the most important part is to reflect our advantages and characteristics comparing to other companies.

Firstly, we can improve customer satisfaction. The IS and IT can change KPIs by decreasing client complaint number and increasing regular customer number. It is objective that we can fully understand customers’ needs which  is an effective approach  to  achieve customer satisfaction.

Secondly, we can create competitive advantages of decreasing quality problem cases number and increasing market share proportion. We can also generate value by all-around after sale service, and high-quality guarantee.

Lastly, we can also generate growth by improving service after sale quality and shortening problem solving time. Implementing our systems allows our company to focus on consumers’ desires, which can generate value.
